THIS SPECIFICATION SECTION HAS BEEN PREPARED TO ASSIST DESIGN PROFESSIONALS IN THE PREPARATION OF PROJECT OR OFFICE MASTER SPECIFICATIONS. IT FOLLOWS GUIDELINES ESTABLISHED BY THE CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS INSTITUTE, AND THEREFORE MAY BE USED WITH MOST MASTER SPECIFICATION SYSTEMS WITH MINOR EDITING.

CLOSE COORDINATION WITH DIVISION 1 SECTIONS IS REQUIRED. IF THE PROJECT MANUAL DOES NOT CONTAIN THESE SECTIONS, ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SHOULD BE INCLUDED UNDER THE APPROPRIATE ARTICLES.

A. Section Includes: Double acting, self closing, 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick ABS impact traffic door [with extruded aluminum frame].
INCLUDE APPROPRIATE SECTION(S) BELOW FOR OPENING FRAMING AND DOOR FRAMES. RECOMMENDED FRAME IS A 6 INCH (152 mm) STEEL CHANNEL WITH A 3/8 INCH (10 mm) WEB (MC6 X 18.0). RUBBAIR EXTRUDED ALUMINUM FRAMES CAN BE SPECIFIED IF DESIRED AND ARE INCLUDED IN THIS SECTION AS AN OPTION.

1. Note specific doors shipped in other than upright position on bill of lading and contact manufacturer.
C. Store in upright position and follow manufacturer’s instructions printed on carton.

2.2 DOOR COMPONENTS.
A. Panel: 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick ABS plastic, 5,400 psi (37 MPa) tensile strength, color as selected by architect.
B. Back Strip: 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick ABS plastic, 6 inches (150 mm) wide, both sides of panel, full height with satin anodized aluminum channel cap.
C. Offset Pivot Hardware:
1. Top Assembly:
a. 11 gauge zinc plated steel enclosure with screw adjustable “V” plate bearing guide.
b. 11 gauge zinc plated steel door mounting bracket with case hardened steel clevis pin and two 7/8 inch (22 mm) diameter steel bearings.
c. 11 gauge zinc plated steel head/jamb mounting angle.
2. Bottom Assembly:
a. 11 gauge zinc plated door mounting bracket with 3/4 inch (19 mm) diameter solid steel plug.
b. Floor/jamb mounted zinc plated steel jamb guard with integral, low friction, igus bearing.

A. 2x4 inch (50x100 mm) extruded aluminum “L” shaped sections, 3/16 inch (5 mm) minimum thickness. Corners mitered, reinforced and welded.
B. Provide number, type and size of fasteners to solidly anchor frame in rough opening.]

A. Shop Assembly: Fabricate door and back strip into adhesive bonded, unitized assembly. Secure top and bottom offset pivot hardware to door with through bolts.
2.6 SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL
A. Fabrication Tolerances: Width and height of each leaf: + 0, -1/8 inch (3 mm) .
PART 3 EXECUTION
A. Examine opening in which door will be installed.
B. Coordinate with responsible entity to perform corrective work on unsatisfactory conditions.
C. Commencement of work by installer is acceptance of opening conditions.
A. Follow manufacturer’s instructions.
B. [Install frames plumb and level.]
C. Install door with necessary anchors, hardware and accessories.
A. Follow manufacturer’s instructions as required to:
1. Clean and lubricate operating parts.
2. Adjust to open and close smoothly and freely without binding.
